Become a wildlife ranger and learn all about the wildlife of the Scottish borders woodlands.<\/p>
Tickets cost \u00a315 for adults and \u00a310 for children.<\/p>
This three hour session starts with a woodland nature walk led by our experienced wildlife ranger, giving you the chance to absorb and enjoy your surroundings.<\/p>
You\u2019ll help top up the bird feeders to get the best viewing opportunities and visit the nature pond and the riverbank lookout, hoping to catch a glimpse of dippers or even a passing otter.<\/p>
Then we\u2019ll get you involved in a volunteering project - maybe planting a tree or a shrub, or helping with the important habitat work we do to attract wildlife.<\/p>
Finally you\u2019ll take part in a citizen science exercise. Depending on the time of year this could be monitoring butterflies, carrying out timed pollinator counts, checking nestboxes, pond dipping or carrying out a bird survey. You'll be given clear, step by step instructions so that you can repeat the exercises at home.<\/p>
After that you are free to spend as much time as you want revisiting some of the places you\u2019ve seen, armed with all your new knowledge!<\/p>
We meet at the entrance to Mauldsheugh Wood in Selkirk. Mauldsheugh is our own community wildlife project, where we have been improving the habitat to make it home to a wider range of wildlife.<\/p>
Tickets are available to book online, subject to availability, up to the evening before the event.<\/p>
We run our nature walks to give more people a chance to enjoy the wildlife of southern Scotland and to help cover the cost of our community nature and wildlife projects. All profits go back into the community interest company to enable us to continue to operate Mauldsheugh Wood, along with nature clubs, school visits and collaborations with other community
